Chemoradiotherapy for solitary lymph node metastasis after curative resection of esophageal cancer

Description
Twenty-nine patients who underwent definitive radiotherapy for solitary lymph node metastasis after radical esophagectomy with lymph node dissection for esophageal cancer were analyzed retrospectively. Radiation was given to 50 to 60 Gy, and chemotherapy platinum - based. The 5-year overall survival rate was 45% with a median survival time of 57.3 months. Response Rate was up to 70% and there were no grade 3 or higher adverse events in the late phase. Radiotherapy could improve survival of the patients with solitary lymph node metastasis of esophageal cancer after curative resection. (author)
