Problems of the thermal reliability of WWER-type reactors
Description
An evaluation of various methods for calculating the thermal reliability of pressurized water reactors is followed by a discussion of the advantages, features, and marginal conditions of the application of statistical hot spot and hot channel analyses. Results of statistical hot spot and hot channel analyses are presented and evaluated for WWER-440 and WWER-1000 type reactors. In particular, the probability of exceeding the characteristic temperatures of core elements is determined. Using this method, the effect of corrosion product deposits in WWER-440 and WWER-1000 type pressurized water reactors on the fuel and cladding temperatures is estimated. (author)
