Method of fabricating neutron-absorbing materials and its molding products

Description

Purpose: To improve the fabrication quality without reducing neutron-absorbing ability. Constitution: Lithium and boron compounds having neutron absorbing ability are preliminarily surface-treated with a coupling agent comprising a titanium type compound. Then, the absorbers are blended with resins and molded into a fiberous neutron-absorbing molding products. In this way, physically and chemically stable neutron absorber capable of preventing coagulation between compounds and moisture absorption can be obtained. In case of molding the neutron-absorbers while being blends with the resins, not only the compatibility between the neutron-absorbers and the resins is improved to facilitate the molding fabrication but also the blending amount can be increased. In addition, the neutron-absorbers can be dispersed uniformly in the resin, whereby the neutron-absorbing ability can be promoted and the mechanical strength can be improved in the molding products.
