Loss-of-Coolant Accident at VVER-1000 Type Reactors. Part 1: Text

  • 1. Oesterreichisches Forschungszentrum Seibersdorf, 2444 Seibersdorf (Austria)

Description

This report describes a project investigating a Large Break Loss-of-Coolant Accident without any accident management measure in a VVER-1000 type reactor. For this work the Source Term Code Package (STCP) has been used. Compared with a TMLB' accident sequence this accident shows a different behaviour. Firstly the timing of the phenomena is different and secondly the amount of the releases to the environment are somewhat smaller than in the TMLB' - sequence. These results have an impact on the accident management strategies. Especially the increased importance of the ECCS systems for the Large Break LOCA can be shown. (author)
