Measurement of the Activity of Electron Capture Sources by the K and L X-Radiation Coincidence Method

  • 1. Vsesojuznyj Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Institut Im.D. I. Mendeleeva, Leningrad, SSSR (Russian Federation)

Description

A method has been developed for measuring the activity of pure electron capture sources by the K and L X-radiation coincidence method. A scintillation counter is used to detect the K X-radiation, and a 2 π proportional counter to detect the L X-radiation. The activity of samarium-145 and dysprosium-159 sources has been measured, and L-fluorescence coefficients for these nuclides have been determined; the values found are in good agreement with the data of other authors. Abstract (Russian)

Razrabotan metod izmerenija aktivnosti chistyh jelektronno-zahvatnyh istochnikov metodom sovpadenij KH- i LX-kvantov. V kachestve detektora KH-kvantov primenen scintilljacionnyj schetchik, dlja detektirovanija LX-kvan- tov — proporcional'nyj 2π-schetchik. Izmerena aktivnost' istochnikov iz samarija-145 i disprozija-159 i opredeleny znachenija kojefficientov L-fluorescencii dlja jetih nuklidov, horosho soglasujushhihsja s dannymi drugih avtorov.
