Intra-arterial DSA of the mesenterico-spleno-portal vessels

Description

The article examines the application of i.a. DSA for the visualization of mesenterico-spleno-portal veins. Indications are portal hypertension and resectability assessment in pancreas tumours. Compared with conventional angiography, i.a. DSA yields a better demonstration of the splanchnic veins in about 50% of the cases. Advantages of i.a. DSA involve good-quality vessel visualization along with a reduction of examination time and cost. Its disadvantages are low-grade local resolution and strong dependence of picture quality on the patients' cooperation. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Die Anwendung der i.a. DSA zur Darstellung der mesenterico-spleno-portalen Venen wird untersucht. Indikationen sind die portale Hypertension und die Resektabilitaetsbeurteilung bei Pankreastumoren. Im Vergleich zur konventionellen Angiographie ergibt sich durch die i.a. DSA in etwa 50% der Faelle eine bessere Darstellung der Splanchnikusvenen. Vorteile der i.a. DSA sind neben der guten Gefaessdarstellung eine Verkuerzung der Untersuchungszeit und eine Minderung der Untersuchungskosten. Als Nachteile stellten sich die geringe oertliche Aufloesung und eine starke Abhaengigkeit der Bildqualitaet von der Kooperation der Patienten dar. (orig.)
