Successful demonstration of steam generation from low grade Pakistani coal on a prototype fluidized bed combustor

The present study was undertaken to design,construct and demonstrate at a fluidized bed combustion of the low grade coal. A prototype combustor was constructed and fluidized combustion of the coal was successfully demonstrated on it. A steam generation unit was also designed, fabricated and incorporated with the combustor. Efforts were made to eradicate the problems occurred during the synchronous operation of the requisite contrivances units for its simplicity and better elucidation of fluidization phenomena. (author)
