Digital subtraction fluorography: operational and technical aspects

  • 1. Leeds General Infirmary (UK)

Description

The diagnostic technique of digital subtraction angiography (fluorography) is briefly outlined. The operational and technical experiences with a modern high performance digital subtraction fluorography (DSF) system, the Philips DV1-2V, during the first 6 months of clinical use at Leeds General Infirmary are described. Comments on the operational experience concern movement artefacts, highlight bolussing and intra-arterial digital subtraction angiography. The factors discussed relating to the imaging performance of DSF systems include background, iodine sensitivity, the dynamic range, low contrast detectability, spatial imaging performance and systematic misregistration.
