Effect of TAE instability on local and global energy losses of alpha particles

Description

The upper limit of local and global energy losses of alpha particles induced by TAE instability is evaluated. Both numerical results and a simple analytical expression for the lost fraction are presented. It is shown that the increase of particle resonance velocities with radius minimizes the alpha losses, preventing the escape of alphas from the plasma core. (author). 11 refs, 7 figs
