Description

We develop a timing amplifier, which can he integrated into MCP detectors. It gets input from the high-voltage circuit or the anode of the MCP detector, and gives the particle timing information. It consists of a transimpedance circuit, which converts the input current signal to the output voltage signal, and two linear voltage amplifier circuits, which amplify the voltage signal to a certain level to feed the constant fraction discriminator. The timing precision of the current amplifier reaches 653 ps, and the time-of-flight measurement precision reaches 2.1 ns in the test. This satisfies the timing requirements of most MCP detector applications, e.g., in coincident measurements and TOF measurements of reaction events. (authors)
