Study of radiogenotoxicological effects on the bone marrows and germ cells induced by fission product 134Cs

Description

By comparing with control, significant increases of chromosomal aberration frequencies in bone marrow cells were found at a dose of 9.25 x 10 Bq/g, whereas increases of micronucleus frequencies in bone marrow polychromatic erythrocytes (PCE) and of epididymal sperm abnormalities were observed at a dose of 9.25 x 102 Bq/g. Only at a dose up to 2.3125 x 105 Bq of 134Cs/g body weight, the significant increases of chromosomal aberration frequencies were observed in spermatogonial cells. It demonstrated that most of chromosome aberrations in bone marrow cells and spermatogonia were of chromatid type. The dose-response of the frequencies of chromosome aberrations in bone marrow cells, PCE micronucleus formation and sperm abnormalities caused by radionuclide injected were all fitted to power functions
