Uranium mineralization of the Litsevsk region in Kola peminsula (Russia)

Description

Brief geological description of the Litsevsk region is given, and conditions of localization, structure and mineral content of revealed uranium mineralization are characterized. It was classified into five types: 1) rare-earth-thorium-uranium mineralization in pegmatoid granites, quartz-plagioclase-orthoclase metasomatites and oligoclasites, 2) thorium-uranium mineralization in quartz-albite-microliine and quartz-microcline metasomatites, 3) uranium mineralization in chlorite-albite metasomatites and albitites, 4) uranium mineralization in albite-hydromicacesous-chlorite metasomatites and 5) rare-earth-phosphorus-uranium mineralization in terrgeneous rocks. The idea about relationship of uranium mineralization with processes of early- and late-Karelian protoactivization and with Hercynian tectonic-magnatic activization of the Baltic shield is based. 23 refs.; 4 figs
