Moessbauer electric-field gradient study in FeS2 (marcasite)

Description
Moessbauer absorption of Fe57 in synthetically grown crystals of FeS2 (marcasite) has been studied in ab and bc planes as a function of orientation of the crystal axes with respect to the unpolarised y-ray beam. The analysis of peak intensity area ratios of the quadrupole split spectra yields the principal axis values, the asymmetry parameter, and the direction cosines of the efg with respect to the crystal axes. Die Moessbauer-Absorption von 57Fe in synthetisch gezuechteten FeS2 (Markasit-) Kristallen wurde in ab- und bc-Ebenen in Abhaengigkeit von der Orientierung der Kristallachse im Hinblick auf den unpolarisierten Gammastrahl untersucht. Die Analyse des Verhaeltnisses der Intensitaetspeaks der quadrupol-aufgespaltenen Spektren ergibt die Hauptwerte der Achse, den Asymmetrie-Parameter und die Richtungskosinusfunktionen des EFG bezogen auf die Kristallachsen.
