Structural peculiarities of crystallization of Fe86-xCrxB15 amorphous alloys

Description
The structure and morphology of phases, formed during crystallization of amorphous alloys Fe85-xCrxB15 (x=0; 2; 5; 8; 10; 12; 15; 20), are studied. It is ascertained, that alloying of amorphous alloys Fe-B by chromium causes changes in the morphology of particles in the initial α-phase and hampers their formation during crystallization. With an increase in chromium concentration the formation of eutectoid spherulitic colonies of α-phase and boride (Fe, Cr)3B takes place at earlier stages of transformation, and at higher chromium concentrations the crystallization process is determined primarily by the formation and growth of the colonies. The increase in chromium content up to 20 at. % means that the alloy crystallization process at first takes place on the surface of amosphous band and then it spreals into the volume
