Possibility of observing production of electron-positron pairs by a photon in the field of an intense electromagnetic wave

Description
We show that it is possible to observe experimentally the subthreshold production of e+e- pairs in the field of an intense electromagnetic wave in the planned accelerators VLEPP, SLC, and LEP. This process will represent a substantial background in obtaining colliding γe and γγ beams (I. F.
