The design, construction and operation of the linac and its support systems are reviewed under the following headings: - choice of accelerating structure, beam dynamics, preinjector and LEBT, accelerating cavity systems, the R.F. quadrupole and control systems, HEBT and BLIP, diagnostics, design and construction of the building, beam performance and parasitic uses (BLIP, CLIF and medical).
