Description
EDTA/N2H4 treatment of stainless steel, Inconel and Stellites at 180 deg to 210 deg C produces glassy Cr2O3-Fe3O4 oxide films virtually free of cobalt and nickel. Further treatment at 230 deg to 250 deg C converts the film to a Fe3O4-FeCr2O4 mixed spinel. It is hoped that these films will passivate the surface under PWR conditions and reduce the release of cobalt and nickel corrosion products. (author)
