Description

Critical discussion is given of the properties of Pr-containing high-Tc superconductors, especially Y1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7. It is argued that the models proposed to explain suppression of Tc and other properties of this system (pairbreaking; hole filling; strong p-f hybridization) are inadequate and cannot explain all seemingly contradicting data. Two other factors are suggested: the role of local structural distortion of the CuO2-plane around Pr, and possible hole redistribution between planes and chains. ((orig.))
