X-ray detector

The invention concerns an X-ray detector, in which the X-rays to be detected are converted into light and this is converted into electrical signals in a photo-detector. A layer of a fluorescent substance sensitive to X-rays is provided for the conversion of the X-rays, which, according to the main patent (P 32 42 663.1) is situated on a light-conducting foil, which is in optical contact with at least one of its narrow sides with a light detector. One tries to increase the efficiency of such an X-ray detector. This is achieved by introducing transparent particles, i.e. small glass balls, into the layer of fluorescent substance sensitive to X-rays. The invention is particularly suitable for application in medical X-ray diagnosis. (orig./HP)
