Description
Artifacts sometimes degrade the quality of CT images and occasionally make them nondiagnostic. For the radiologist, it is necessary to know how and why artifacts occur and what kind of techniques are used in avoiding CT artifacts. In this article, patient-based artifacts, such as beam hardening-, metal-, and motion artifact are reviewed, and some techniques for artifact reduction are introduced. (author)
