Description
Among the many promising areas of research, those relating to knowledge of the material and its behaviour during the initial processing steps are fundamental. Part 1 of this article reviews the quality of research relating to a number of characteristics of current standing timber and future forest resources. Part 2 describes the progress accomplished by means of a deterministic approach and the possibilities it offers to ascertain and predict both some of the features of the material and its behaviour when subjected to certain processes.
