Description
The objective of this work was to clarify the current aspects about the biological effects of sodium combustion products and its hygienic standards both in Japan and other countries by the literature survey. The results were summarized as follows. (1) Physical and chemical properties of sodium aerosols. (2) Deposition of sodium aerosols in respiratory tracts. (3) Biological effects of alkaline substances. (4) Presumed mechanisms of alkaline substances. (5) Hygienic standards of sodium aerosols in Japan and other countries. (6) Further studies to be needed. (author)
