Tungsten monocrystal production from materials of different purity
Description
The content of carbon in a tungsten powder has been evaluated in the course of a hydrometallurgical winning of tungsten and its reduction from fluorides with a view to determining a most effective method for cleaning tungsten of interstitial impurities during a metallurgical processing of concentrates. It is shown that the reduction technique provides a best removal of impurities. Purity and perfection of single crystals obtained by plasma-arc method from metalloceramic bars have been compared. It is shown that tungsten obtained from fluorides is of a highest purity and possesses most perfect single crystals. Carbon content drops by a factor of 50, cold brittleness threshold shifts, from 50 deg C to -100 deg C, residual electric resistance, from 1700 to 5000
