Low energy superstring theory
Description
The spontaneous breakdown of the E6 gauge group of low energy superstring theory is discussed, and a method given for determining the residual gauge group. It is shown that certain chiral supermultiplets can be naturally light and that, as a consequence, the residual gauge group SU(3)CxSU(2)LxSU(2)RxU(1)YxU(1) is singled out. (Auth.)
