Magnetic properties of CaCu3Ti4O12with perovskite structure

Description
The magnetic properties of CaCu3Ti4O12 (space group Im3) are investigated on a polycrystalline sample by susceptibility measurements and by neutron diffraction. The Neel temperature of this antiferromagnetic compound is Tsub(N) = 27 K; at 2.5 K the Cu2+ ions moments are ordered in a space configuration with ternary symmetry: their projections on the (111) plane are 1200 apart. The experimental value of the magnetic moment of Cu2+ is μ(Cu2+) =1μsub(B) and the Curie constant is C = 0.39 e.m.u. (author)

Les propriétés magnétiques du composé CaCu3Ti4O12 (groupe d'espace Im3) ont été étudiées sur un échantillon polycristallin par mesures de susceptibilité magnétique et par diffraction neutronique. A basse température, une configuration de spins antiferromagnétique s'établit au-dessous de TN = 27 K; à 2,5 K les moments des ions Cu2± sont situés dans l'espace, leur arrangement conservant la symétrie ternaire: leurs projections sur le plan (111) font entre elles un angle de 120°. La valeur expérimentale du moment magnétique de l'ion Cu2± est μ(Cu2±) = 1μB et celle de la constante de Curie est: C = 0,39 u.e.m.Additional details
