Radioactive iodine sorption from N2O4 flow on stainless steel surface

Description

Technique of experimental investigations of 131I sorption on the internal surface of the 0Kh18N10T steel from a laminar N2O4 flow at a temperature of 338 to 753 K is presented. The iodine sorption at a temperature up to 400 K is practically completely reversible, and the equilibrium in the volume-internal surface system is attained very soon, which permits to describe the sorption-desorption process using the distribution coefficient. A noticeable irreversible sorption of radioiodine is observed at a temperature above 420 K. Rate constants of radioiodine sorption on unoxidated and preliminarily oxidated surface of stainless steel are determined
