Rationale for radiotherapy in subclinical Nodal disease

Description

Because the number of malignant clonogens is less in subclinical nodal metastases than in overt disease, radiotherapy given in reduced doses can be successful in eliminating the disease in a high proportion of cases. The advantage this offers to the patient is a less radical surgical procedure, as well as radical radiotherapy, usually with the same or better local tumor control
