Results from ultrasonic wave inspections for the detection and dimensioning of fatigue crack propagation
Description
The results from a study performed on the fatigue crack propagation in PWR vessels are discussed. The purpose of the investigation is to establish a relationship between the length, the place of a defect and the structure's residual life. The tests and the 6 inspections carried out during 5 years are reported. The results show that a defect traversing the structure is expected at the end 1989. The large amount of data allowed a statistical analysis showing the reproductibility of the method

Les resultats de l'etude effectuee sur la propagation de fissures de fatigue dans les cuves de reacteurs nucleaires de type REP sont presentes. L'objectif du travail est d'etablir une relation entre la taille, l'emplacement des defauts et la vie residuelle de la structure. Les essais et les 6 inspections completees pendant une periode de 5 ans sont rapportes. Selon les resultats, un defaut traversant est attendu pour la fin 1989. Le grand volume de donnees a permis une analyse statistique qui montre la reproductibilite de la methodeFiles
