Thermal energy extraction device by nuclear fusion method

Description

An existent method of electric discharge electrode nuclear fusion reaction has a room for improvement since neutrons formed are easy to be discharged to the outside of a hydrogen storing metal electrode and efficiency upon use is extremely low. Then, a voltage is applied between discharge electrodes, one of which comprises a hydrogen storing metal, in a container containing a deuterium gas, and deuterium is adsorbed to the electrode and nuclear fusion is caused at a normal temperature to generate thermal energy. The thermal energy is transferred to coolants by heat transfer means and a kinetic energy of neutrons formed at the discharge electrode is also converted into heat at a high efficiency by an energy/heat converter. Further, the reactions are further enhanced by forming an intense electric field at the vicinity of the electrode made of the hydrogen storing metal to adsorb deuterium efficiently. Thermal energy formed by the nuclear fusion method can thus be taken out at a high efficiency. (N.H.)
