Telescope counter
Description
The article describes a telescope of particle counters consisting of two scintillation counters and a coincidence circuit. With a view to increase the efficiency with which correlated events are detected, while at the same time maintaining the angular resolution, counters of the multiplex type are used and the coincidence circuit consists of two pulse coincidence units with like counters and two pulse coincidence units with unlike counters. Using the telescope described it is possible to perform the following operations: separation over a wide capture angle of correlated pairs of particles from the target, when the correlation angle is other than 1800; separation of particles with given trajectory curvature and correlation angle when the particle background has a different curvature and different angular correlations; ''cutting-out'' of the sensitive part in experiments on counter beams when all the two-particle processes give correlations with angle 1800; ''cutting-out'' of the sensitive zone in a gaseous target without the use of collimator slits or control counters; performance of all these operations in regimes with delayed coincidences between the two counters.
