Emanation coefficient of powdered ore sample as a function of moisture content

  • 1. Ministry of Nuclear Industry, Henyang, Hunan (China). Uranium Mining Research Inst.

Description

The emanation coefficient of powdered ore sample as a function of moisture content is presented in this paper. After appropriately selecting and controlling the moisture content and temperature of the ore samples, the relation of emanation coefficient and moisture content of ore samples was more thoroughly examined with five powdered ore samples coming from three kinds of uranium mineral deposits. It was found that a small change of moisture content of ore sample might lead to significant change of emanation coefficient of ore sample (in the weathered state) with low moisture content. Thus, this effect of moisture content must be adequately considered when emanation coefficient is measured or the laws of emanation coefficient (and other radon emanation characteristics) as a function of various factors are studied
