Description

A short introduction to the possible uses of plutonium is followed by a survey of the use of plutonium in the Federal Republic of Germany. This includes a description of the initial situation, the plutonium accounting and recycling programme, the design and production of mixed oxide fuel elements, and experience gained on thermal recycling as well as profitability of thermal plutonium recycle. Subsequently, the most essential characteristics of the development in the use of plutonium in the USA, Canada, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan are reviewed. Abstract (German)

Nach einer kurzen Einfuehrung in die Moeglichkeiten der Plutoniumverwendung wird ein Ueberblick ueber die Plutoniumnutzung in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland gegeben. Dabei geht es im einzelnen um die Ausgangssituation, die Plutoniumbilanz und das Rueckfuehrprogramm, die Auslegung und Fertigung von Mischoxid-Brennelementen und Erfahrungen mit der thermischen Rueckfuehrung sowie um die Wirtschaftlichkeit der thermischen Plutoniumrueckfuehrung. Anschliessend wird ueber die wichtigsten Merkmale der Entwicklung der Plutoniumnutzung in den USA, in Kanada, Frankreich, Italien, Belgien, den Niederlanden, in der Schweiz, in Schweden und Japan berichtet.
