High-order harmonic generation using a sub-ps KrF laser pulse
- 1. Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, Wako, Saitama (Japan)
Description
We have investigated the high-order harmonic generation using a 0.5 ps KrF laser. Rare gases (He, Ne) and molecular gases (O2, N2) are used as a nonlinear medium. The highest-order harmonic observed with He is the 35th (7.1 nm), which is the shortest harmonic wavelength reported to date. Our experimental results suggest that the high-order harmonic is emitted from ionized atoms. The limiting process of the high-order harmonic generation is discussed. (author)
