Polarized neutron scattering and depolarization in ferromagnet with dislocations near the curie point

Description

Contribution of polarized neutrons to a scattering cross section depending on polarization is considered for magneto-ordered regions (MOR) occurring in proximity to dislocations above the Curie point. Intensity distributions corresponding to this contribution and apprearing in the vicinity of reciprocal lattice are studied. It is shown that in the MOR skeleton below the point of phase transition dependence of scatterino with a singe-domain monocrystal on neutron polarization may be rather strong, if we choose optimum isotopic composition. Depolarization of a transmitted neutron beam conditioned by their small-angle scattering on polycrystal MOR is considered. It is found that even at dislocation densities characteristic of nondeformed crystal this mechanism may lead to considerably higher depolarization, as compared to critical scatterin.o. under ideal conditions. From this point of view possible explanation of experimental results neutron depolarization in nickel near the Curie point is suggested
