Dosing plutonium and uranium in a high ionic force medium by α solid scintillation
Description
The authors report the study of method of measurement of plutonium concentration and of others α emitters by solid α scintillation. They show that this method can be applied to concentrations between 0.001 to 10 ppm. They first address the dosing of plutonium (influence of ionic force, of solution acidity and of wetting agent, of scintillator thickness, of concentration), and then the dosing of uranium and of the sum uranium + plutonium. They discuss the influence of β and γ emitters
Abstract (French)
Nous avons etudie dans de larges limites et dans des conditions particulieres une methode de mesure de la concentration du plutonium et d'autres emetteurs α par scintillation solide α. Nous avons verifie que cette technique est applicable pour des concentrations comprises entre 10-3 ppm et 10 ppm. Par ailleurs, la methode peut etre utilisee en toute securite avec des solutions de grande force ionique et aussi en milieu tres acide. Dans ce cas, la tenue du scintillateur depend de son epaisseur et de l'agent mouillant. De plus, dans un domaine de concentration assez large, il semble qu'en presence d'emetteurs β et γ le taux de comptage augmente legerement. (auteurs)Files
