Intrathoracic kidney. Diagnostic value of CT scan imaging

Description

Two cases are reported of an ectopic right kidney that was partially intrathoracic in position. Diagnosis was simple from CT scan imaging appearances, the examination being performed to investigate an intrathoracic mass. Images showed a tissular mass within a fatty zone in sections without contrast and the typical appearance of the kidney on sections with contrast

Abstract (French)

Deux cas de rein droit ectopique, partiellement intra-thoracique, sont presentes. Leur diagnostic a ete facilement fait par la tomodensitometrie realisee pour l'etude de la masse intra-thoracique devant l'existence d'une masse tissulaire au sein d'une zone graisseuse sur les coupes sans preparation et devant l'aspect classique d'un rein apres injection de produit de contraste
