Radiation-induced color centers in PWO crystals

Description
The absorption characteristics of the PWO crystals subjected to high doze of γ- and fast neutron irradiation are studied. It is shown that the absorption in the 360 nm at neutron irradiation is caused by structural defects, i.e by O- -centre. Additional investigation of gamma-induced absorption showed that at high dozes of γ-irradiation the changes in the spectra of crystals with La are caused by the formation of complex quasi-stable hole centers, which at breaks at home temperature.
