Coherent nuclear production of mesons
Description
The coherent production of (3π)− systems from nuclear targets is considered, with emphasis on results from a high statistics (130,000 reconstructed events) experiment at 23 GeV/c by the Carnegie‐Mellon‐Northwestern‐Rochester collaboration. Features of diffractive dissociation in the coherent process are compared with diffractive data from hydrogen. The momentum dependence of the coherent yield and the multiparticle absorption cross sections in nuclear matter are discussed. Coherent nuclear A2 production is seen.
