Data bank for nuclear science and technology

The current state of the project for building a Data Bank for Nuclear Science and Technology is described. The tasks of the bank will be to provide data for nuclear sciences and technology in Czechoslovakia. The data bank is being projected as an open system consisting of a number of subject sections and it is expected to be formed in cooperation with the other CMEA countries. Current work is focused on securing the system in a comprehensive manner, on the necessary hardware and software, on organization and personnel. An experimental data sample from 22 selected PWR type power plants has been forwarded for processing to the Zentralinstitut fuer Isotopen- und Strahlenforschung in Leipzig using the EC 104O computer and the SOPS AIDOS program. The analysis of primary sources of the processed data showed that the data are, in fact, concentrated in a small number of specialist journals. It appears that the most favourable hardware and software solution of the project will be the use of the SIEMENS 7755 computer at the Central Institute for Scientific and Technical Information in Prague, using the SESAM and GOLEM retrieval systems.
