Proceedings of the second international symposium on radiation detectors and their uses (ISRD2018)

The Second International Symposium on Radiation Detectors and Their Uses (ISRD2018) was held in Kobayashi Hall at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) in Tsukuba, Japan, from January 23 to 26, 2018. This symposium was organized by KEK and the 186th Committee on Radiation Science and Its Applications of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), with the cooperation of the Ionizing Radiation Division of the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP), the Radiation Science and Technology Subcommittee of the Atomic Energy Society in Japan (AESJ), and the Kita-Kanto Branch of AESJ. As anticipated by the aims of the symposium, the spectrum of contributions was very broad and covered the following topics: Basic Process of Radiation Detectors, Gas-filled Detectors, Scintillators and Scintillation Detectors (including Photodetectors), Semiconductor Detectors: Materials and Devices, Neutron Detectors and Instrumentation, High Energy and Nuclear Physics Instrumentation, Imaging Systems for Nondestructive Testing, Medical Applications, and Other Uses, Radioactivity Measurements and Dose Evaluations, Environmental Radiations (including topics about space and the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Accident). In ISRD2018, there were 117 participants from 15 countries, and 97 presentations were made in total, including 49 contributions by posters. The eight invited speakers delivered keynote talks. Among these contributions, 42 papers were accepted after peer review and are published in this proceedings. The presented papers are indexed individually. (J.P.N.)
