Bremsstrahlung radiation from a 5 MeV betatrom
Creators

Description
The angular distribution and penetrating power of the bremsstrahlung radiation from a 5 MeV betatron are measured and compared with calculated values. The angular distribution corresponds to a target thickness of 0.002 cm as compared to 0.037 cm, the actual thickness. The measured values of the attenuation coefficients for aluminium, steel and lead are 0.0448 +- 0.0007, 0.0436 +- 0.0006 and 0.0508 +- 0.0005 cm2/g respectively. Theoretical calculations for a thin target Schiff's spectrum give the values 0.0512, 0.0499 and 0.0560 for these materials respectively. (author)
