Calculation of three dimensional electric fields by successive over-relaxation in the central region of a cyclotron
Creators
- 1. Univ. of Manitoba Cyclotron Lab., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 2N2
Description
Successive Over-Relaxation has been used to calculate the detailed three dimensional electric field in the central region of the Univ. of Manitoba Cyclotron. The potential near the dee tips was represented by a regular array of 256 x 128 x 13 in recently designed dee tips to accelerate H- ions. A size of 0.25 millimeter mesh was used near the injection point to avoid time comsuming imterpolation near the boundary. Considerable reduction in computing time was obtained by assigning integer rather than floating point values of potential. The program is currently running on the VAX-11/750 computer
