Description

The transformation of carbon nanotubes to nanocrystalline diamond was accomplished by combining carbon ion irradiation with H2 plasma, which led to a process of order-to-disorder-to-order transition. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected-area electron diffraction (SAED) and Raman spectroscopy were carried out to investigate microstructure of the crystalline grain. The mechanism of transition from carbon nanotubes to diamond nanoparticles was discussed. (authors)
