Dendroclimatological analysis of Norway Spruce primaeval forest on Zadna Polana Mt

In this paper, we analyze the influence of several temperature and precipitation variables on the radial growth of Norway Spruce (Picea abies) in the south most spruce primaeval forest in Slovakia situated near Zadna. Po.ana Mt. The relationship between the tree ring width (TRW) standard chronology and the time series of selected climatic characteristics in the interval of years 1961 - 2019 is expressed by Spearman coefficient. As a result, we detected statistically significant positive relationships between TRW and the average annual temperature, as well as the average monthly temperature for March, July, August and previous October. In the case of precipitation characteristics, no significant correlation was found. Importance of this paper is in its wide range of use in the forestry and in subject of interest, which is for now in Slovakia insufficiently explored. (authors)
