Clarification of assumptions connected with production potential and exchange agreements

Description

This report opens the project Operational reliability planning and control, which is part of the power programme of The Norwegian Research Council. This project has sub projects dealing with active and reactive reserves in the operation of the future main network, in which the greatest challenge will be the power exchange with the continent. The present sub project will clarify the necessary background information about the Norwegian production potential and what commitments and problems arise from the agreements. The main topics discussed are: (1) Routines and concepts related to active production and regulation of power, (2) Development of the energy and power demand, (3) Production potential 1996, (4) Development plans, (5) Survey of established exchange agreements with the continent, (6) Problems related to the coordination and reliability of operation, (7) Use of the direct current connections for dynamic regulation. 12 refs., 14 figs., 15 tabs
