Strength of metallic glasses at 4.2-300 K

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kharkov. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst. Nizkikh Temperatur

Description

Investigation into temperature dependence of metallic glass strength (Ni78Si8B14; Fe40Ni38Mo4B18; Fe25Ni55Si10B10; Fe61Co20Si4B15) is conducted within 300-4.2 K temperature interval. By the character of σ (T)x dependence and fracture mode the alloys investigated are subdivided into two groups. In 1 group alloys the fracture up to 4.2 K has the character typical of ductile fracture. In the second group alloys fracture acquires brittle character with the temperature decrease
