Nondestructive determination of material damage related to creep strain by means of small angle neutron scattering

Description
Small angle neutron scattering is used as an effective method of detecting structural changes during non-destructive determination of the remnant life of heavily loaded components. Small angle neutron scattering (SANS) measurement permits a direct and quantitative determination of the parameters which are essential for the high-temperature creep strength of a material. From the connection between the SANS signal and creep strain, conclusions can be derived for remnant life. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Neutronen-Kleinwinkelstreuung wird als empfindliche Methode zum Nachweis von Gefuegeaenderungen bei der zerstoerungsfreien Ermittlung der Restlebensdauer von hochbelasteten Komponenten eingesetzt. Die Small-Angle-Neutron-Scattering-(SANS-)Messung erlaubt eine direkte und quantitative Bestimmung der fuer die Hochtemperatur-Kriechfestigkeit eines Materials wesentlichen Kennwerte. Aus dem Zusammenhang zwischen SANS-Signal und Kriechdehnung lassen sich Aussagen ueber die Restlebensdauer ableiten. (orig.)Additional details
