Description
All aspects of oil spills have been addressed at this two-day conference, although the special emphasis was on oil spills in arctic regions and in marine environments. The range of topics dealt with included the physical and chemical properties of oil spills, contingency planning, containment and recovery, oil spill treating agents, biological effects and biodegradation, oil spill modelling, risk assessment, health and safety considerations, tracking and remote sensing, and shoreline protection and cleanup. A number of case histories of recent oil spills, and descriptions of current research and research facilities, were also included
