Description
Carnivorous plants are specialised to live on substrate with a low content of mineral nutrients. To solve this problem, they developed the ability to catch little animals in order to use them as nutrient supply. The main fertilising nutrients are nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. Other essential elements are, for example, sulphur, magnesium, calcium, sodium, boron, manganese, iron, molybdenum, and many others. So far, most research concentrated on the uptake of nitrogen compounds, only little is known about the utilization of trace elements
