9. Isotope separation, concentration and separation of radionuclides
Description
Radioactive materials processing is described and separation methods are surveyed and classified. Described in more detail are crystallization, precipitation, sorption and leaching, chromatographic methods, ion exchange methods, extraction, electrochemical, distillation and pyrometallurgical methods. Special radiochemical methods are discussed, such as isotopic exchange, atomic recoil and rapid radiochemical separations for short-lived radionuclides. (B.S.)
